News organizations have embraced the blogging format for a number of reasons, including to provide a more up-to-date and transparent way of transmitting what they know. Often they haven’t taken advantage of reader interactivity (through comments) or the linking structure of the web, preferring to keep visitors within the site and not link to other sources.   The Times, for example, has a number of topical blogs (e.g., health) which are more of the same, but also blogs like TheLed, which provide opportunities for comments and invite readers to suggest links and other information on the web.
