The Obama administration, touted as expert campaign communicators, are still learning how to cope with a what David Carr calls the “tyranny of split-screen coverage,” in which the mainstream media jump on any claim as one of many interesting views–blowing up the debate into often exaggerated conflicts. That doesn’t fit the “elements of journalism” expectation that journalism have a sense of “representativeness.”  (note: check Monday’s Times every week for articles in the business section specifically related to media.)
